Primary Care

The focus of primary care is 1) prevention, 2) management of chronic conditions, and 3) coordinating care with specialists when needed.

1. Prevention. We work with you to establish goals and a plan for healthy habits associated with decreased risks of disease. We monitor blood pressure, cholesterol, blood glucose (blood sugar), and other biomarkers to set baselines and track improvements. We also recommend and refer for standardized screenings, such as colon cancer screenings, to aid in prevention and early intervention.

2. Management. Sometimes, no matter how hard we try, our genetics cause us to have hypertension (high blood pressure), diabetes (high blood sugar), hypercholesterolemia (high cholesterol), obesity (unwanted weight gain), erectile dysfunction, and many other conditions. In primary care, we provide treatment options to address those conditions and help people live healthier, fuller lives in spite of having a chronic disease.

3. Coordination. When you need a specialist to join your care team, we do our best to get you connected with one in your local community. This may include cardiologists (heart specialists), neurologists (brain specialists), gastroenterologists (digestive tract specialists), and many other specialty providers who have expertise in treating specific body parts and functions.

Urgent Care

The focus of urgent care is to provide access to care when something unexpected happens. Many evaluations and treatments can be handled in urgent care via telehealth. According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, physical exams may be conducted and many common conditions may be treated using telehealth. The following list is an example of urgent care you may receive with Third John Healthcare:

• Ear, Nose, and Throat - cold, sinus infection, sore throat, bloody nose, pink eye

• Skin - rash, blemish, acne

• Abdominal - diarrhea, constipation, upset stomach, nausea, vomiting, gas

• Neurological - headache, dizziness, sciatica

• Musculoskeletal - muscle aches, minor sprains, muscle spasms

Some conditions require imaging, lab testing, or other evaluations that are not available via telehealth. Members are welcome to contact Third John Healthcare for help deciding if a local urgent care or emergency room would better serve them. Remember, if there is a threat to life or limb - that is an emergency. Remember your ABCs (Airway, Breathing, Circulation). If any ABC is compromised - that is an emergency. Please call 9-1-1 or go to your local emergency room for all medical and psychiatric emergencies.

Testosterone Replacement Therapy

Low testosterone (Low T) is effecting more and more men at younger and younger ages.

• About twenty percent of men (1 in 5 men) aged 25-44 years have Low T

• About forty percent of men (2 in 5 men) aged 45-64 have Low T

• About sixty percent of men (3 in 5 men) aged 65+ years have Low T

The following are some symptoms of low testosterone:

• Fatigue, low energy, feeling tired all the time

• Depression, sadness, feeling grumpy

• Difficulty with memory or concentration

• Decreased libido, low sex drive, erectile dysfunction

• Decreased strength, muscle mass, and endurance

• Reduced performance in the gym, playing sports, or at work

At Third John Healthcare, we offer multiple therapies to improve testosterone levels and help guys achieve peak performance. Testosterone is a medication, and testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) requires closely monitored labs. The cost for the medication and the labs are not included in membership, but all the management and care planning is included. You will only pay for the medication you choose and the labs to monitor treatment, which is usually less than the costs of TRT at specialty clinics.
